Letter from the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib supporting the October 17, 2026 meeting at Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento
ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵੈਸਟ ਸੈਕਰਾਮੈਂਟੋ ਵਿਖੇ ੧੭ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ੨੦੨੬ ਦੀ ਇਕੱਤਰਤਾ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਕੱਤਰੇਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦਾ ਪੱਤਰ
In this letter dated October 16, 2026, addressed to all Gurdwara management committees in California, the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht Sahib notes that destination weddings continue to take place, including recent cases in Sacramento and Toronto, despite the order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib dated December 28, 2025.
The letter acknowledges that nine Gurdwara Sahibs of Sacramento have jointly formed a committee to enforce the Hukamnamas of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and spread awareness, and that a meeting of the Gurdwara management committees of California has been called at Gurdwara Sahib West Sacramento on October 17, 2026. The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib has praised this effort and directed that the plan agreed at the meeting to stop destination weddings be sent to the Secretariat.
ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਮਿਤੀ ੧੬ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ੨੦੨੬ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਸਕੱਤਰੇਤ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਹ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ:
“ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਮਿਤੀ ੧੭ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ੨੦੨੬ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵੈਸਟ ਸੈਕਰਾਮੈਂਟੋ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੈਲੀਫੋਰਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੈਠਕ ਸੱਦੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਤਿਕਾਰਯੋਗ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪ ਜੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਜ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਡੈਸਟੀਨੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਵਰਤਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਠੋਸ ਰਣਨੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਮਿਤੀ ੧੭ ਅਕਤੂਬਰ ੨੦੨੬ ਦੀ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਇਕੱਤਰਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੈਅ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਕੱਤਰੇਤ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਭੇਜੀ ਜਾਵੇ।”
